This is not a difficult installation. A Lenz LE077XF decoder can be installed above one of the gear towers by removing part of the weight at that end of the locomotive.

The L/L SD7 normally comes with only a front headlight bulb installed, but it is possible to install a rear headlight bulb as well during the decoder installation if required.

The only real problem is to fit the wires round the motor and still be able to fit the body back on the chassis.

Alongside are several photos of my installation in my Rio Grande SD7 which I give some idea how this installation was accomplished.
